I participated again this year in the promotional mammogram program at ECM. $40 for a mammogram, and the price includes the reading. I've already gotten my results in the mail, and I went during October!

I appreciate so much being able to have access to something like this. I don't have health insurance and this is really great for me.

Good for you, HomesickGirl! Smiler

And if you received the results in the mail, I take it the outcome was good. I'm glad.

Yep, the results were good. I had to get over being afraid to get tested. You know that phobia that says getting tested will make you have it? Or what you don't know won't hurt you!

I had my first one last year, and since then they have gotten digital mammography at ECM.

I am impressed with them on many levels. Everyone I talked to and came in contact with was professional and friendly.

Do they really squish it flat as a pancake? And does that not hurt?

No, it doesn't hurt....doesn't tickle either. I don't know about flat as a pancake - you have to look straight ahead while the technician is doing her thing. It feels like they're squished flat as a pancake, but apparently they pop right back out to normal. Wink Big Grin

HomesickGirl,

I understand about the phobia and have found that once you've done it once or twice, the nervousness starts to lessen. I say better to know than not know, and a stage one diagnosis is much better than stage four.
