Seems to be a lot of new hotels going up in Florence. Does this area have that sort of demand for hotel space?

I have been told that this is part of a master plan to have UNA move up divisions. To do so Florence must have a certain number of hotel rooms available. Don't know if this is true but I have heard it from several sources.

You may be right. Just trying to figure out how the hotels make a profit since they will have most of their business in the Fall (home games).

No h/motel is going to be built based on 5 or 6 weekends of business. These places are projecting a future need based on more than just UNA football.

We are certainly getting some nice hotel/motels around here. For that much, I'm really glad. How long they'll be able to stay, we'll see.

You don't want the Yankee golfers. You want the golfers to come from Japan by the planeload. You want an economic stimulus, advertise golf outings in Japanese newspapers.

Neither corporations nor individual investors are going to base building a hotel or motel solely on collegiate football. They do an extensive analysis on the situation in each locale long before any site preparation ever proceeds. They are not about to dump that much money into something that hasn't been thoroughly studied.

Not just Yankee golfers...there are billboards scattered all over Texas advertising Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

Gives me that warm fuzzy feeling every time I see one.. Big Grin

RH, do you know why there would be no rooms in Carthage, TX.,I-59, on a Tues. night? We obtained the last room in town-a lovely new Best Western -and expensive for BW. The parking places seemed to be filled mostly by oil industry construction, etc. workers. That is one neat lodging provided! Relatives had to stay in Henderson. I realize this is off subject, but you seem to travel Texas. Two new large motels are being built across highway. Thanks, posters, for letting me interrupt.
