I was talking to the former owner of the late "J Fiddler's Cafe" today. He informed me he will be opening up a "steak and drink joint" behind cold water bookstore in tuscumbia. It will be called "Casual Phil's". The guy's name is Phillip so I guess that works. He said it should open around the first or second week of November. I didn't get many specifics other than steaks, burgers and alcohol.
He told my husband & I he wanted out of the business. Wonder what changed his mind? If it's going to be behind the bookstore, where would the entrance be? Isn't the back of that building on a hill & no entrance's in the back?

There have been several owners of restaurants there in the past few years. None of them have made it. I don't think location is the problem. In the past; the ones that have been there have tried to be either too fancy, too far out, and most of all too expensive. Tuscumbia is not the place for 8.95 hamburgers. A nice place with reasonable prices could stand a chance to make it. If it is going to be like J. Fiddlers where service and being unfriendly are cancerned; He just as well not ever put out the open sign. Just my opinion of what i experienced at J. Fiddlers several times. I was a sucker for punishment and kept trying. Yep. dumb on my part!

I never saw Phillip or anyone else at J Fiddlers to be unfriendly. Phillip had an extremely dry sarcastic sense of humor. Most of his help did to. Well, So do I. So I never had a problem. I have heard that personally it's hell to work for him. I don't know.
ive been meaning to try this place. is it where the pilot house used to be? i hope its nothing like j fiddlers (when i say this i mean service wise, along with owners attitude) i see one comment on food. are there any more vouchers?
