Anytime that you hear that the grilling room/mailing room is cooking go there and try whatever they are cooking and it is by far the best you will ever eat. BTW, I think I heard that they are cooking for UNA homecoming

I have absolutely no doubt about my choice when it comes to the best BBQ ever, North Alabama or anywhere else, for my taste, it is Thomas BBQ in Madison, Alabama on Highway 72. There is always a line of cars stretching from their drive thru and often backed up along the Highway toward Florence.

I have never stopped, but have noticed the cars. The last time we went past I said that must be a great BBQ place. What the crap, I just said nothing didn't I, so what. I have noticed, really.

One note about Thomas BBQ. My review is based only based on the Hot Sauce that's found on the table. Their Mild sauce is the worst so go with the Hot sauce as you have to ask for the mild, if you want it, and the mild looks like water it's so clear.

I have fond memories of the pulled pork plate at Southland Restaurant in Sheffield. We used to go there after church on Sunday afternoons. You could smell their smoke house from a mile away and it always drew me in, with my nose in the air, my mouth watering and my stomach grumbling. My grandmother and my mother would always ask for outside meat. It was a little chewier but it had the best, smokiest flavor. As I got older and could chew it, I did too. Dang, now I've made myself hungry and lunch isn't for another hour. Frowner

TDB and ZIP, I'm so glad you all will be able to make a short trip to Southland in Sheffield. The BBQ is sooo good, and don't forget to take a whole home made pie when you leave. Wink Oh yeah, this could be the reason they have been in the business at the same location for over 50 years.

Oh Lordy, don't even get me thinking about the pies. Meringue 3 inches high and so light it just melts in your mouth like cotton candy. My personal favorite is the coconut followed a close second by the chocolate. Dang, my mouth is watering again. Does anybody have a napkin?

We too, had noticed cars lined up at Thompsons, so I stoped in one day , many may like their BBQ .. but we did not care for it that much, eatable but nothing special. I walked in made the order to go, faster that way .

Boston Butts are one Sale this week for 78 cents lb @ Foodland , I am firing my smoker up now !

I'm glad its not just me. I tried Thomas in Madison and thought it was really bad. Could not understand why all the fuss.
