So i visited Crocodile Eds last night. I arrived there along with a group of friends around 7:15. We were seated around 8:20. We recieved our food around 9:30. We left at 10:15. This place really needs to get their crap together. I understand that its their first week in business, but their is no excuse for the quality of service, quality of food, and price for quanity of food. The portions were small and lacked flavor. Im a decent sized guy and i ordered the Baked Shells and Cheese with Chicken. The waitress (bless her heart) to ld me that she never had seen anyone finish this entree. I recieved the bowl and the pitiful mess of bland shells with some sort of seafood mixed in(keep in mind i ordered chicken). What a disappointment. If someone waits 2 hours to eat with the hopes of a quality meal by god they are going to be hungry. I ate every bit of my meal and was not anywhere near full. The rest of my group wat terribly dissatisfied with the way we were treated and what we got for the money. I paid 4.50 for one Domestic 20oz. beer, the shells were 9.95, and we had a 18% gratuity for having a group of 6-8 or more. Grand total for meal after tax $19.49. Wow! this in no way is the waitresses fault, she did her job to the best of her ability. I would have been better off going to a mom and pop joint and getting the same meal ofr less than half of what i payed at Eds'. I figured with the way the service was i would be making a smart decision getting something simple like Shells and Cheese and thought "surely they cant mess this up" but i got proved wrong. I will not be going back, EVER! The group of us were treated like dumb hicks that had no business being there. When in fact we just wanted to have a nice meal and go on with our evening. I dont see this place going anywhere and thought from the beginning that the opening of this place was not planned out well. I dvise anyone who plans of eating here to think twice about it.
We went on Wednesday on the spur of the moment--weird late afternoon time and, again, Wednesday. The parking lot wasn't half full, nor were the dining rooms. We waited TEN MINUTES for the clueless teenagers in the pretentious aprons (Clearly someone ate in NYC in the late '80's--I mean, I'm pretty sure they weren't going for Paris bistro with the goofy-golf CROCODILE on the roof, but whatever.) to stop criticizing the people who were already seated. (They're called CUSTOMERS. They PAY you.) Finally the child PUT DOWN HER HAND (the one that was telling us to stay away until she had finished her conversation) and told us it would be AN HOUR for a table! Again, we were the only people waiting, and the place wasn't even busy. We laughed and left. Clearly this won't be the place to pull my dining dollars out of Huntsville, Birmingham, Nashville, or Atlanta. Pfft!
While my wife and I were dining at Red Lobster the other night we overheard several people at the next table talking about their dining experiences at Crocodile Ed's. They had ate there several times since opening but chose Red Lobster since every meal they had at Crocodile Ed's was a bad meal I've not heard much good for Crocodile Ed's but I do hope things change.
I went last thursday. The people were extremely friendly..BUT..BUT.. In my feeble little redneck world, the food was overly expensive. I asked for a well done new york strip. It was pink. I got 4 small hushpuppies for 2.95$. The ny strip came with a very small helping of potatoes and a very little vegetables like 3 small slices of zucini and a few onions. In total, this plus a drink was 19$. I wont go back.
Not to mention the roll they brought me was hard as a ROCK.
I ate at Crocodile Ed's for the first time Last friday, and it was amazing. The people posting negative criticism on the forum obviously have never eaten at a quality restaurant. It isn't all about the size of the plate or how much food you get for the price. It is about the quality of the food and the taste. This place has the freshest seafood north of the Gulf. I had excellent service and the food was excellent. No, you don't get a large amount of food but the prices are very reasonable considering the fact that it was flown in fresh from the Gulf. You also have to keep in mind that this is a NEW restaurant and it is going to take a little time for them to get everything up to par.

Did you miss the part where most of the criticism is NOT about portion size, but about quality and service? If the service and food are great, people won't be so quick to complain about portions and pricing.
I haven't tried the place out, and I know there can be a lot of kinks when a place first opens. Like others, I'll give it a couple of months, and if it is still there, I'll try it out.

Um, I believe I was the second to post, and I can assure you I have eaten in the best restaurants on three continents. You will please note that I will never know the quality of their seafood, since I was told I'd need to wait an hour to take one of the DOZENS of empty seats, BUT, saying that it's the best seafood north of the Gulf means that you're ranking it above Highlands, and I am telling you right now that I don't care HOW long those aprons are, they're going to need to be a d*mn sight longer before you're in Frank Stitts territory!
I think I will end up going to this place someday...... I know most everyone said something bad about this place,....... but I also know any new business takes a while to get it all together and learn to run it as teams... I will just wait a month or more to give them time to learn the business.........

So are you incinuating that we(being the people with a disliking for overpriced and minimally portioned meals) aren't as "worldly" as yourself? A quality restraunt as you so described it is not what i would classify Crocodile Ed's as. A quality restraunt would be; Frank's Italian in Tuscumbia, Bone Fish Grill in Huntsville, Surin in Madison, all of the dining establishments are moderately priced for the amount of food you recieve. Oh, and not to mention they (wait) on you, not you wait on them, if you get my "untraveled and unworldly" point. By the way the food had as much taste as the cardboard box it came out of. Oh and the whole bit about the "flown in fresh from the gulf" crap. when i see the plane or chopper land with a refrigeration duct on top of the aircraft ill eat my words unless its dry packed. Yes i agree with you on ONE thing, its a new restaraunt, but the use of the word "par" and the fact that there is a crocobile on the roof is a little too "Caddyshack" for me. Thanks for the incinuation im some back woods hillbilly who knows nothing about fine dining.

My first post and, NO, I am NOT their competition. We just left Crocodile Ed's at 7:15. What a HUGE disappointment this place was. Bread was inedible-PERIOD. I got a drink that had lipstick on the side of the glass. DISGUSTING! No visit from manager to our table. I ordered the 'seafood platter' and my wife had the 'shells and cheese with chicken' The paltry servings on the seafood platter was literally a LAUGH. I was shocked speechless at the portions. 3 shrimp, 3 fried oysters about the size of a quarter and a HALF of a catfish filet that was greasy. They brought slaw in a sauce container that contained 1 tablespoon of slaw. 18.00!!? The meal my wife had was TASTELESS slop. NO WAY I'll EVER go back to this place. Don't believe me? Here's a pic of my so-called 'seafood platter' before I touched it (gawd I love cell phone cameras!). The poor waitress was excellent in her service. I told her she wouldn't have a job very long. She knows it.
It's my money. I worked for it and do not like to be cheated out of it.

I KNOW food. I am in the catering business. I would be EMBARRASSED to serve this SLOP to anyone.
So, how can I say this gently to you? I'll quote Gordon Ramsay "Maam (or sir), I think you're talking out of your ***" G'day.

Dang Captian D's gives you more than that for like 6.99. How embarassing is that! I think that someone from that restraunt needs to read the criticism and put it to use instead of "thumping dummy" and losing customers or in that places case customers are known as "inconvieniences"! To Whom it may concern; get on top of your **** before you go out of business.

I know what you mean. They brought me out 1 roll with my meal. It was literally hard as a rock. I could barely cut it with the butcher knife they gave me. I heard a couple sitting across from me complain about their roll too.
