Hi to my Forum Friends,

At some point, everyone has most likely asked himself/herself this question: "What if. . . ?"

It doesn't matter if one is an atheist, a secularist, a vanilla-flavored non-believer -- or a Christian; I believe we all have asked ourselves this question, at some time.

Sunday, as I was showering to go to church; this thought came into my mind. What makes a person ask, "What if?" -- and what is the answer?

For the atheists and secularists -- the question is: "What if -- God really does exist? Then, what will happen when I die?"

And, he will answer himself with these assurances:

* No, science has proven there is no need for a God.

* No, the universe has always existed.

* No, evolution created life.

But, "WHAT IF -- this is not true?" Then, what do you have? Science as your god -- and eternal self condemnation.

For the vanilla-flavored non-believer -- the question is: "I know that God exists. And, I know that this life is all there is. But, what if -- this is not true? What if eternal life in heaven or hell is really true? Then, what will happen when I die?"

And, he will answer himself with these assurances:

* No, God is a loving God; so hell surely does not exist.

* No, I will always have time to change before I die.

* No, I am having too much fun and enjoy my current lifestyle. After all, this life is all there is.

But, "WHAT IF -- this is not true?" Then, what do you have? The World as your god -- and eternal self condemnation.

For the Christian believer -- the question is: "I believe in God. I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe in an eternal life. But, WHAT IF -- this is not true?"

Then, we answer ourselves with these assurances:

* Yes, we believe -- because we know that the Word of God, the Bible, is proven by over 1800 fulfilled prophecies -- with no failures.

* Yes, we believe -- because we have seen so many answered prayers; answers that could only have come from God.

* Yes, we believe because history: religious, secular, and science, i.e., archeology, has validated the Bible as true and valid.

Is it a sin for the Christian believer to occasionally ask, "What if. . . ?"

No, God created us in His image -- spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, morally -- but, He did not create us perfect. Jesus Christ is the only Perfect Man. So, we, in our human frailty will -- in times of weakness, in times of great stress, in times of tribulation -- sometimes ask ourselves -- "What if. . .?" But, then we assure ourselves based upon His Word, His promises, and His faithfulness.

So, not to worry. If you are a Christian believer, even with a few "What ifs" -- we will still walk together in heaven. You have His promise in John 6:47 and throughout the Bible. And, if you are not a believer -- would you like to talk about how you can become a child of God?

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

HI BILL!

thats like FOUR personas youve made since i came on the scene! gotta be a record somewhere!

i found this quote particularly stupid,
quote:

an atheist asking 'what if god really exists?' is like a bald guy asking us if we like his hair color. can one person's brain really contain this much retardedness?

Those who are afraid to believe are the ones who protest the loudest.

What if?

A frog had wings?

Or if any of the believers in the thousands of gods had the same evidence that you currently have?

Please have a look.

Regards

Smiler In my defense, you can look at my question 2 ways: 1) Is it possible to FEEL yourself getting dumber? 2) Is it possible for you to get dumber? I like the occasional ambiguous question. They can make one think for a while before responding. LOLCATS are hilarious!

Being freed from the burden of intelligence and rational thought is said to be liberating. I guess I'll never know.

Bill, Matt 7:6 Give not that which is Holy to the Dogs, neither cast ye your Pearls before Swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

I think either description would fit these People

Hi Miami,

That is true; the world religions have many, many thousands of gods. The Buddhist alone must have ten thousand Buddha type gods. Other world religions are the same; many thousands of gods.

But, the sad part of all this is -- those gods are made of earthly things: wood, stone, clay, etc. -- and cannot offer eternal salvation to anyone.

Only God can -- and He does; if one will only, by grace through faith, believe and receive Jesus Christ. Are you ready to lock in your eternal life with God? Yes, it is that simple, that easy, if one is sincere about inviting Him to come in (Revelation 3:20).

Miami, you will notice that on the web site you recommend -- God is not mentioned at all. Does this give you a clue?

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
