I believe that our pets are family too because they are always willing to listen without interupting. They don't care if you have a good day or a bad day, but are still always there for us to talk to. They are are friends and we all should be kind to all animals. Please go find a special pet from your local shelter that desperately needs you to love them, so thay can be a part of your family too. Thank You.
I have had 5 rescues. Only one is left now and he will be 14 in March. We got him when he was about 6 months old. He was being trained to fight other dogs. He is a real sweetheart.
The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.
I have three dogs and I've gotten them all by rescue type circumstances. I saw Pepper get thrown out of vehicle on hwy 72. I saw Bruce at a local animal shelter, and Emma I got from a coworker after she had been unceremoniously dropped at her residence.
As the old saying goes, don't breed or buy while shelter animals die.

Man, what kind of family do YOU have? No interrupting? Haha!
I, of course, am just kidding around. I agree with your sentiments. My pets are a very integral part of my family, and my kitties were adopted from the Humane Society. As a matter of fact, other than fish, a couple of hermit crabs, and a hamster and a gerbil way back when I was a kid, all the animal members of my family were either strays who adopted us, or ones we adopted from shelters.
You don't love someone for their looks, or their clothes, or for their fancy car, but because they sing a song only you can hear.
