I see in the picture that at least half the material in the landfill is recyclable - lots of cardboard, for example. Come on, people! Probably lots of plastic bottles and jugs, other paper, on and on and on till we are totally overrun with garbage.
And Mary, its so easy to separate! I don't know if folks need MORE education or their just plain lazy.

I have problems with the city picking up my recylables. Had to call them a couple of times, after my bags laid out by the curb for a few days. That is the problem on my street, so where do you take them-recy-if they are not picked up?

There's a recycle center on 1200 Terrace St.

It's easy to seperate but there is not a good system in place to collect the material. It all sounds good on paper, saving trees, water, the planet etc. but if there is not an easy convenient way to collect the material most people are not going to participate.
I've noticed several times lately on my street that recyclables have been picked up by a regular looking garbage truck (the kind where the two guys ride on the back bumper - you know) instead of the flatbed truck with a big cage on the back. Makes me wonder if everything I put out there to be recycled is actually going where it's supposed to.....

I guess, that technically, anything that we take from the earth and return to the earth, is recycled.
Whether a red garbage truck or a cage on a truck, I can honestly say I am trying to leave this world a place better than I found it.
