Interesting. I would think that type of incident should be reportable to OSHA. It appears the guy was wearing a safety harness but was it attached to the bucket? If not, the company needs to retrain, reiterate the basics of workplace safety, and the supervisor needs to enforce the rules.
It is a real shame that this happened and I hope the fallen person recovers. What also is a shame is the hush-hush from all involved - from the man's superintendent to OSHA. What an absurd statement about not having to report this. Hey! A man fell 4 stories to the ground and was hospitalized!!!! Are we expected to believe OHSA has no concern or regulations about this? Everyone is covering their butts. Will this worker be drug tested? Is he a legal US citizen? If not, I am very sure all the reports to all the right agencies will be taken care of and we taxpayers will pay every penny of it.
