clandtroop0181, I think most people want this war to end, but unstable is unstable - no matter the circumstances. The shooter was a psychiatrist - a medical doctor trained to help others deal with the stress of deployment. If he knew he couldn't handle the reality of war, he shouldn't have signed up, as he was reportedly being deployed himself.
I do wish that our soldiers received better mental health support upon returning from war. They all deserve the best care we (as a country) can provide. You've got to take care of the people that take care of you.

An Army psychiatrist who opened fire at Fort Hood, Texas, killing 12 people and wounding 31 others, was shot but captured alive, military officials said late Thursday.
The gunman, identified as Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was wounded at the scene but was captured alive and was in stable condition, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone, commanding general of the Army’s III Corps, said at a press conference late Thursday.

You were apparently correct. I've been home and watching coverage since 3:00 this afternoon and every channel, including nightly news on the three major networks, reported he was dead. Now, apparently he is not.

Sorry. I walked away from the TV for a couple of hours & didn't know they were telling now that he's alive. Last time I watched it, they were saying he was dead.

People make my brain hurt with some of the things they say. This is a war that will be(and would've been) fought until we are all cold in the ground. Bush just happened to be the president when all Hell broke loose. And as much bellowing that King Barry did pre-election, he now knows what's really going on, AND that the enemy we fight will not quit fighting just because we do. If you don't like your country fighting radical Islam.... move to Switzerland. Otherwise, support our troops and pray for a swift and definitive victory(that means kill as many of the bad guys as it takes til their will is broken). That's the history of war.... Bush didnt create war....it's been going on since Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the forbidden tree.
