What's your opinion? Was Keeton protecting his grandchildren or just mad that his ex-son-in-law got custody of them? I'm undecided.

I don't know Mr. Keeton but just from what I've read I'd say he was mad his ex-son-in-law got custody of the grandkids.

He had no right to kill the father of his grandchildren.

Tony was a very good father.. I believe he did it because he was mad that Tony had custody.

I have heard this from several people who live in their area.

Keeton was very angry at his son-in-law and a fight erupted.

It just so happened that they were related by law, but actually it is no different that some of the other stories we have read about people getting into a fight a killing the other. I think it has happened 2-3 times here lately if I remember correctly.

Another thing to remember in this case was that Tony had CUSTODY of the kids he went over there to pick up, so obviously he didn't refuse to allow them visitation. Also Tony was shot in the BACK, and that proves he was NO threat to the grandpa in this, right?

It is a terrible tragedy that these children will grow up without the love of a parent. I am not too familiar with the case way over here in Centre--did the children SEE the murder take place? God help them if they did!

I don't know. I DO know he went there to pick up his kids, and they got into an argument and he was shot in the back. Now whether his kids saw it or not, I have never heard.

No one I have talked to knows, and it wasn't in the paper. I guess they have been trying to protect the kids.

Thanks KS....Was this the father of the children that was shot? Where was the mother? Was she in the picture at all? I hope you don't mind these questions...but I am not familiar with the case at all. Can you give me some info so I can look it up on the archives. Thank you so very much! Smiler

As a very close friend of Tony's and he was also a new member to our family, I wish to could comment on your questions and answer them, but I cannot right now. However, you all will find out the truth soon enough. What I can comment on is the type of person Tony was. He meant the world to us, he was so good and loving with his kids, and his stepchildren thought of him as a father as well. He was ALWAYS smiling, laughing and making jokes. I was going through a rough time when I first met him and just by being around him made you feel happy and good. He did not like confrontation and if you said anything that you would think would make him mad, it never did, he would just laugh it off. Believe me when I say alot of lives have been destroyed because of this selfish act and he will always be thought of and missed.

I believe in the jury and the people of Florence, Alabama. I know that once the entire truth is out, everyone will see that this was cold blooded murder. Mr. Keeton has also been wearing sunglasses into the courtroom so he will not have to face the family and friends of Tony. He says it's because he has cataracts, however he has been spotted several times these past few weeks OUTSIDE IN THE SUN WITHOUT HIS SUNGLASSES. I believe the judge should make him take them off and make him face everyone that he has hurt.

When my Dad had cataracts he ONLY wore sunglasses AFTER his surgery. He didn't need them beforehand because the cataract was dimming his "lights" for him.

But that is just my Dad, I am not sure if that is the case for everyone with cataracts or not.

But INSIDE?? That is just a little TOO hard to believe.

I dont think it was fair to tonys family and friends.that they felt sorry for keeton in court.just because he was old.hey tony was only 40 years old.he would have loved to live as long as keeton has.they should have thought of how tonys life ended to soon because of keeton.they can send someone off for life for drugs.but, they dont care if you kill some one.it really stinks here in alabama how they let people get by on a lesser charge.
