And please only one vote only, for those that have more than one forum name.

Question:
What would you like to see placed in Veterans Park. Here is a chance to voice your opinion.

Choices:
Civic Center
White water rafting
Water Park
A museum
Or just leave it alone, or something else

Hey a white water park or a water park would be a good investment. Have one on the inside for winter entertainment connected to the Marriott, That way both seasons could be fulfilled. An inside and an outside part to continue into the seasons as they come along. A boardwalk across Wilson Dam with a Museum of Art of the Shoals across the boardwalk down to the indoor(or outdoor) pool, Wavepool, and a abundance of water slides to complements the shoals area, like the Wilson Dam and other things related to the river and musics interests in the Shoals area. What do you think? I expect at least 40 comments on this post.

Hey, thats what this is all about, this is fun now? All comments welcome to improve the Shoals, come on Forum people. Nows your time to speak. I will except at least 50 comments on this. Let the Shoals opinion shine on this subject. "Only the peoples opinion will shine n this Thread". Treat it like a petition to the city.

leave it alone, the campgrounds, baseball fields, tennis courts, disc golf course, picnic areas, they're all great, nothing should be taken out to accommodate a "water park"..thats just lame, and disc golf is way more fun

invest in what is already there. Expand camping to areas closer to the river (where you at least have a view) It is too nice a place to commercialize and destroy.

I agree , improve what is there. Put in a marina for goodness sake. We have enough commercial districts in these 4 cities to ruin a park for another one. After all that is what the owner of the land had in mind when it was leased to the city.

Whatever is done, I demand that it be something for the people, and not to accommodate the rich only.

There should be public hearings and full disclosure on any project proposed. Unlike the Bass Pro fiasco and misleading way that was handled. Look out for some of the same people to try to push something else like a gaudy, plastic, metal, monstrosity indoor water park. For example.

I agree, but one thing that surprises me is how FEW people have responded to this post that will effect us all in one way or another.

What about those of us that don't play golf, baseball, & tennis? An amusement park would be way more fun!!! Wink

I always thought it quite humorous that the Bass Pro Shop simply HAD to go in at Veterans Park. Nevermind all the other open land in the city that it could build on just as well. I guess the people staying at the Marriot can afford to stay there and eat at the 360 Grille, but not the gas money needed to drive across town to the Bass Pro Shop. Of course, BPS never intended to build here anyway. They probably still laugh at us to this day over that.

I still want a civic center SOMEWHERE in the Shoals, but I've had numerous people on here tell me it's a bad idea. So I don't feel like arguing for it again. I still doubt a water park would be very successful, since until there is an Interstate highway running through here, we will always be an out-of-the-way place for tourists. If the facility was FIRST CLASS in EVERY way it might have potential, but I doubt that would happen. Just call me cynical I guess.

I would much rather the Shoals area leaders focus their time and energy on things like improving infrastructure (mainly roads), or trying to bring more jobs here so UNA students like me don't necessarily have to leave town when we graduate. Silly me though, I guess that makes too much sense.
