I am not allowed to comment at length on this because of professional restrictions--this is in the "For What It's Worth Department."

This type of thing happens all the time, this is not to say there is something wrong with either party. With the way doctors and hospitals are reimburesd these days, things have to change to make it more cost effective.
Healthcare cost are high enough without adding additional cost to the patient. I can also understand having one base to take call from. I have taken call in the past\ covered 8 counties on call 20 days of the month and this leaves little time for yourself and or family.

This move actually can be of benefit for all parties involved. Shoals hospital can house many different healthcare needs that are not currently available at one facility.

There is more to this story I feel than what is being told. If they wanted to keep all their patients in one place what was the problem with staying with Shoals hospital only and admit there only. Shoals Hospital is a beautifull hospital with spacious rooms and some of the best care givers around. I feel this is a bad move for the docs as well for Shoals, only time will tell.

My husband and I have different primary care physicians. Both of their names are on the list of those now on the staff at Keller only. If they were Shoals only, we would not be happy at all! I think you would find that this is the case if you checked it out!

i was curious about this move, as at least some of their offices are located in the Shoals MedicaL Building, just down the hallway from their admitted patients...

Keller is currently building a huge medical complex just east of the hospital. I expect to see these physicians move there when it's completed.

Since I don't have a license in any state, I can mention what I hear about MRSA and UTIs at this hospital. This must be a part of it.

Maybe these doctors do not want any part of Coffee Health Group. If I were a doctor I would not be affiliated with a group that allows "passive euthanasia" and "mercy killing" in their facility under the concept of Palliative Care. Many citizens with incurable illnesses are being drugged and starved to death with Palliative Care. GET THE FACTS! It is happening in the Shoals area. Certain doctors and hospice agencies are ending lives and playing God. I have the information and evidence.
Local elected officials know this is happening and they are doing nothing to stop it. The two people running for the Mayor of Florence know that taxpaying citizens are losing their lives in this manner. Some thoughts to ponder before the election!

Ahem, I am a palliative care nurse, working for an agency in Muscle Shoals. I have never seen anything of this nature, and if I did I would promptly report it.

You are a moron! If you have the proof the by all means let everyone see it. You have absolutley NO idea what you are talking about so spread your stupidity and lies elsewhere.

In response to the entry re: pallative care, I believe, or know, that the options for the patient is the decision of the family members. The doctors cannot order any medications or with hold feedings unless the family is agreeable to it. When my father suffered a massive stroke, we had to decide what options were best for him. The only thing that really upset me, was the doctors attitudes after we decided on tube feedings for my father. My Dad was allowed to stay longer, but after a while, it was "rush everything" to get him discharged to a nursing home or discharged home with home health.

And you plan on doing what with this information and evidence you claim to have?

End of story.

Shoals hospital has some of the best and most caring nurses you will find anywhere, they should all be commended. The care you receive there is as good if not better, than you will receive anywhere. As for MRSA and UTIs, they are at all hospitals, and MRSA is also a community acquired infection.
