Driving Cox Creel is a nightmare any time of day. I had rather drive Chattanooga or Nashville than Florence.

Or Birmingham or New York! Idiots do not understand the 65 mph speed limit and try to drive 45 side by side!!! SCOOT over!

See my previous post on just that! There's no one behind me for miles, but just because I leave a little distance between me and the car in front of me, they pull out--yep, doing 25 in a 45 mph zone. This is where my gasoline goes.

My biggest complaint with Shoals drivers is how badly they seem to be able to "share the road" with bicyclists. I almost believe they were trying to come as close as possible for a laugh.

#12 doesn't say anything about being in the left lane. The left lane is for passing...not Sunday driving or long haul travel.

Why....Sure they are real stories....and real names...Let me tell you...I drive alot during the week...Gas prices and Self taught drivers ed is going on in every town. Just last week I encountered one of the 10 acre field graduates that failed to read the book on Signs...especially the one that said Yield. You would think a 6400 pound Red GMC might give the slightest hint that maybe...just maybe...since it is coming towrds you in a abrupt amount of speed...there maybe be something up with this sign thats pointed in your direction. The best way for anyone that hasnt gotten past the sign part...is too assume...if it is on a Steel pole..Sitting in concrete...and pointed your way...Look at it as a stop sign...No way you can go wrong there...unless you have an Irate driver that is late for work because his biscuits werent done and he knows what the sign means....Then I am sure he will let you know...Your Number One....With this said...Strap up..Helmet on...Drive fast and be careless...The Roofer...

It talks about if they are going the speed limit, get off their butt. They need to MOVE their butt out of the way if they want us off it.

And to you riding my butt I would say "Buy me a new car" when I hit my brakes and you rear end me...Cops can ticket you for following too closely and the excuse of "they are driving below the limit in the passing lane" is not a valid excuse...

BTW, a limit is a limit -- it does not mean you have to go that fast. Unless there is a minimum posted like on the interstate, then no laws are being broken -- even by grandpa on a Sunday afternoon drive in th eleft lane...

My #1 peeve is slow drivers in the left lane.

One of the most frightening things that I ever witnessed though happened last year as I was headed south on Woodward Avenue. A long line of traffic was stopped by the light at the Woodward/Avalon intersection. I was sitting way back near Ruby Tuesdays. A car was in the turning lane heading north and was sitting there waiting to cross our lane to go to Wal-Mart. Well, the person in front of me stopped so that the woman could cross over. When she pulled through, a car came speeding up beside me in the far right lane and colliding with her completely turning over her vehicle. It was awful! Sometimes "courtesy" isn't always a wise thing.

If you need to turn left & can't...Turn right, then turn left onto side street to turn around & get yourself headed in the direction you need to be in.

What's really annoying is if I'm in the turning lane turning left & someone has stuck their behind in the turning lane facing me & thinks they have the right-of-way. Hello! If you are misusing the turning lane, you do NOT have the right-of-way.

I'm not sure that is a misuse of the lane, but I do see your point. Unfortunately, some of the streets are so messed up here that you can't simple turn right and go around.

That's because you've seen it done so often that most drivers don't know it is. No kidding, it is. I hope I was able to properly explain it. A picture is worth a thousand words, but I don't have one. Smiler

I generally try to stay out of the left lane, because I don't want to be run over. I try to observe the speed limit. Just because the left lane is "the fast lane", it doesn't give people the legal right to ignore the speed limit.

[COLOR:BLUE]Sorry, the rest of my post kinda got lost in the atmosphere the worst thing that I see is: When we got our license to drive, we all learned that when you are turning Left, turn into the Left lane, go two car lengths, then get into the Right lane. This happens all the time when you are turning Left off Hermitage/Darby Dr. onto Cox Creek Parkway, which I agree, is a very dangerous Road. Another one is : when someone turns off a Left side road in front of you, they cross all the lanes into the Right lane just to turn off into a convenience store, parking lot, etc. I see this weekly on Highway 72 going to Huntsville. Also, the Soccer Moms are the worst being on their cell phones, Most cell phone users to me appear to be Women. Also: People use that little stick that is stuck onto your steering column, that is for using your blinkers to turn off, if You can remember which way is left and which way is Right. I honestly believe that most people forgot that is on there and they also forgot which one means Left and which one means Right. And they are too embarassed or ashamed to try it. Therefore, no one uses their blinkers any more. Geez.

If an individual is going the speed limit in the RIGHT LANE they are in the LEGAL RIGHT and have no reason to move any butt out of any way. It's self-centered "I'm the most important person on the road" driving that gets people killed. Speed limits are there for a reason. Feel free to break them, but get off my trunk if I'm in the legal right.
