i guess justice is finnally being served, especially after the authorities had lots of evidence, and still allowed the couple to run free. I womder if this was all due to their parents or other family members, are freindsw with certain government officials. also i hear that they are not living with his parents, but living at his uncles in a camper trailer in the same county as the incident, and being out on bond, is forfuture of bond. barry swan you are a coward BOO

First I am sorry for what has happened .

In most cases as this, no arrest are made untell after all the investigation has been done and turned over to the D A and then taken to a Grand Jury , the 18 people on the Grand Jury after hearing parts or most of what the evidence shows, then they vote ,if 12 or more agree ,as in this case for a Murder charge . Then at some point and time it will go to a trial or a plea . Hard for the family of the Victim to understand . The Judge sets the amount of the bond if any at all. So sad and sorry for the Victims Family,

We do have one of the Best Victim Service officers in the State, she works for the D A . they should be an Arraignment soon, that is going before a Judge to let the Defendants know what they are charged with . that is the first of many long Steps.

There is support in our County for the Victims family .

I was glad to see one school take a class to one day of a trial this week in lauderdale Co., I wished other schools would or could do that. I do know Hartselle does this at some Murder Trials in Decatur each year.

I heard talk that they would have arrested them earlier, but the Anderson police chief (only officer they got) lost some key evidence. Par for the course.

Not knowing, but the smaller the department , the easyer it maybe to not do as some of the bigger law inforcements do, that is why they turn it over to the County and ABI to help, Yes early on , with good training , it does help most all cases. Fact is and I have no ideal about Anderson. But I dough they have had many if any murders to investigate. The larger Citys as Florence and Huntsville have so much more training, one thing because of the funding for the training, that the smaller towns would not have. In most all these type cases it take a lot of time, and more so if waiting on something from the State Lab. Oh yes Rumors fly. I hope they have their ducks in a row, cause if not a Defence Attorney will be looking at any and ever thing. his Job to do so ,court appointed or not.

Well let me tell you all a little something, that man that was shot in cold pre-meditated murder, was my brother. If found out that foul play was involved, and the couple that killed him were not arrested for whatever reason, and that the state had enough evidence to arrest them, and never did, then it is time to take it to the public, and see about having seats overturned. Alabama has some of the sorriest laws, that i have ever seen, due that here in indiana go straight to jail, no questions asked, and bond at least over one million dollars. I guess, thats why alabama is alabama, but like i said barry swan you are a coward, and if convicted you go to prison, you will be a woman before you come out, thats what cowards are all about! Il come visit you and bring you some lipstick . As far as the police loosing evidence or whatever was wrote, if you people in alabama only knew the truth. Love you bro, haunt that sissy that shot you in his dreams.

oh by the way let me tell you about your victims assisstance people you all have down there nothing good to say for me. I have a 23 year old nephew that astood there when his uncle was shot in cold blooded murder, and they havent even tried to contact him, and get him any type of help whatso ever, and he suffers, every day, so your victims assisstance should be fired, waste of tax payers dollars.

No wait! You forgot about the gun toting "Reserve" officer that goes around town bragging that he's a real officer.

There is help , for ones who may need it, not untell the indictment and an arrest, would we know it was nothing more than self defence. Even "IF" it was self defence that would be hard enough for anyone to wittness.

This whole justice system takes a long time in most all cases as this and each case is so defferant for many reasons. Yes in some cases an Arrest right away . Do not judge law Inforcement untell it is all over with, they have to make sure ever I's are Dotted and T's are Crossed , if not most any Defence Attorney can and would, when time for a trial , would be pointing all the little things out to a Jury to put dough and that is their job. I heard this on our scanner.

The Victim Service Office works for the D.A. and needs to know one family member to be the contract person to come farward, the other Victim support groups is made up of Volunteers, The D.A. or most law inforcement can give contract numbers for support. Counseling when needed can be from 3 places with no charge .

Being in another state makes it extra hard on the family members that can't be close , as things go thru the court system. But pointing fingers so soon on everone so early of what should have happened or should be done , can not be good.

I do not know any the these people on either side. But we do know the pain of the Victims family.

I agree you can hear all kinds of gossip out our way. Now I'm interested in what international crimes the police chief of Anderson has investigated.

Also, how does the DA's office feel about Bowers saying he presented the case to the grand jury? Huh?

I have served on two deferrant Grand Jurys thru the years.

What most do ,the investigtor of the case that being "Mr Bowers" ,does address the Grand Jury with what evidence he may have. I am sure either D.A. Chris Connolly or one of his Ass. D.A. addressed the Grand Jury too. To let them know what options as to what the Law is and to what the defendants maybe charged with. Then after hearing the evidence the 18 members vote for a true bill or no bill, 12 or more votes for a true bill means it goes to the next step, if there is less than 12 votes , then it is a no bill, but could come back before another Grand Jury if more evidence is found. In cases as this, if any D.A. feels the case maybe weak, then he may wait in hopes of making a stronger case at a later date.

I really dont care what kind of issues the police down there have done in iraq or wherever. that is beside the point i honestly believe in my heart they never done what was right, thats why during the trial and other parts, the issues will be brought foward, and like i said they will be brought to justice, for their mishaps, and be unseated, and go on the welfare line. It sounds like lots of them only got their job, was due to they knew someone, not for what they know. Too bad it is not like the old days, when something like this happens, they are just taken out back, and string their asses up. Hey barry do us all a favor, go out in your back yard, take a pistol, since you like pulling triggers, stick the pistol under your chin, pull the trigger, and save the tax payers money, and give us closure, to you murdering my brother.

to the hall of famer, it is not the victims responsibility to contact the victims assisstance, it is by law the other way around, so again the victim assisstance is not doing there jobs. Also when someone bonds out of jail, it is the justice departments, sherriffs office, to contact the family, and notify them they have been bonded out, guess what none of my family have been notified, by anyone, not even my parents, nephew, or sister, or anyone in our family, dont worry, civil lawsuits, to certain officials, will take placee, after all this is all over with, for all the lack and neglect of their jobs, and responsibilities to the public, so keep trying to make your police down there look good, you ll would be better off if they stayed in the doughnut shops.

First untell an Indictment came out and an Arrest was made , the Victim Service Officer , does not get involed. She or anyone else has no reason to untell then . One of the Victims Family has to go or call and give a contract number and sign a paper of Invoking your rights as a Victim so to be Notified by Law , when any part of the Justice System will be taking place. First step an Arrignment if not all ready should be soon. So Please make a call to the D.A. Office and ask to speak to her or go by. But you the brother being out of state that maybe hard to do. Posting what your doing here is not getting the imfromation she needs or ya'll need. I can sure understand the angry of what has happened, but do not shot the messenger, I am truly trying to reach out and help .

Robert Wood, if you expect to get help from anyone, you certainly will not obtain it by badmouthing with such a broad brush here in Alabama. You do have my sympathy, but be advised that I am offended from your rants. Just because we are in Alabama and you are in Indiana does not make you better or smarter than any of us.
If your brother acted any way at all the way you have come one here and done, then I understand completely why your brother is dead and the offender is now only being arrested. You need to CHILL OUT!
