A simple question, who are you a fan of and why?

If this means that I am a bad American I am

mean,

Most of Heston's comments on those he disagreed with were humorous, at worst, not mean spirited.

As to, “Don't understand the nature of "enemies" very well do you?,” it’s the left uses such terms as enemies, consigning all that disagree with them, not as opponents, but as “enemies,” persons only fit to be killed – a dehumanizing tactic.

Bloggers on the Huffington Post and DailyKos make the most vile statements about Heston, proving the maxim about little minds and little men only good for cutting down great ones when they can not defend themselves -- the ultimate cowards.

Amusing. You seem to think the left is the only ones who regard their adversaries as enemies. About that you are deluded. One need only to listen to Rush Limbaugh to get a dose of adversarial hate. One also may look at the treatment of Max Cleland treatment by the right during his last election to get another view of such hatred. I recall a right wing acquaintence, upon hearing of JFK Jr's death, said "Good, another Kennedy out of the way". I would also like to point out Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson's comments after 9/11 in which they blamed their listed enemies within our borders for the tragedy. Don't give me that self righteous, holier than thou crap. The right has its own hate mongers and to deny that is intentional, poorly thought out, deception. In other words - a lie(and not even a good one). I find such liars and partisan cheerleading cowardly and intellectually deficient. I guess we have similar feelings for one another. I can live with that.

Charlton Heston's last good movie was Bowling For Columbine. Michael Moore made him famous again as well as Dick Clark. Charlton Heston was well known for his role as Moses in The Ten Commandments and the President of the National Rifle Association making mega bucks off of ignorant people. I wonder if they will bury him with his guns?

mean,

"I recall a right wing acquaintence, upon hearing of JFK Jr's death, said "Good, another Kennedy out of the way". " Doubtful as the last Kennedy to die, at that time, was JFK's older brother in WWII.

JJP,

"making mega bucks off of ignorant people," explain your accusation. He made most of his money from acting. Acting in movies people liked and drew more viewers than many made today.

As to the crockumentary "Bowling For Columbine," -- "Moore splices together sentences from different parts of the Denver speech, cutting out conciliatory remarks by Heston and changing the meaning of the remarks shown."

Do you suffer from dementia? JFK Jr. was the son of President Kennedy who died in a plane crash with his wife and sister-in-law on July 17, 1999.

P.S. - If you do indeed suffer from dementia, my heartfelf apologies.

I never watched Bowling for Columbine. Michael Moore is an extremist himself who is the epitome of the "wingers" that tend to use one topic to scare the hell out of people...mean claims the Right wingers use scare tactics to allow guns in every home and Michael Moore is the ox on the other end of the spectrum that used a tragedy in Colorado to support gun control...tit for tat if you ask me....

I think my favorite "bit" part was of him in Tombstone...Love that movie

Too easy! And no.

Gregory Peck, Barry Goldwater (a true conservative of the libertarian sort), Richard Widmark, Dixie Chicks(because they irritate all the right people and are not afraid in spite of death threats), Max Cleland, John Glenn, Michael J. Fox (a brave young man, if not a great actor), Jimmy Stewart (of course), Gore Vidal, Catherine Graham, Lincoln Chafee (even though he lost), Arianna Huffington (smart people change their minds), Gen. Wesley Clark, Susan Sarandon, Merrill Streep......Its a long list but I think you get the idea. I had to add in the politicos because you did not specify actors only.

Dixie - oh, yes, good movie and yes, he was good in that role. I think my favorite Charleton Heston bit part is probably the role he played in True Lies. The eye patch was classic! He also showed his sense of humor for the cameo he did in Wayne's World 2 as the "good actor" garage mechanic who made Mike Myers' character cry. What a lot of people don't realize is that Mr. Heston was in the 2001 Planet of the Apes re-make with Mark Wahlberg. In a true role reversal, he played an ape, Dr. Zaius. His role was uncredited.

Dixie,

I never said I have a problem with individuals having guns in their homes for personal protection. I also have no problem with hunters having guns. I have guns - several. What I have a problem with is the availability of certain firearms, and individuals with a background of domestic violence, criminals or convicted felons acquiring legal firearms. Many such safeguards are in place and the NRA fought each and every one of them. As always the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Thanks TDB -- I didn't know that...I watched the original and it gave me nightmares when I was a kid...He did have a good sense of humor...From the Tombstone role, I pictured what a true "good man" from the West would have been like..you know, leave him here if they want him they gotta go through me...that protector feeling...
