lets get everyone's take on this report. Personally, I don't see a problem wearing it, but if employers can keep someone from wearing a God pin, they can do the same here. The + IRS = Theirs. |

Covering her head is a sign of her religious belief. If there are rules, they should apply to everyone.

It's the same as not wearing hair down or wearing a necklace. Most hospitals will absolutely forbid it. (Yes, I see it done from time to time--that doesn't mean it's right.)
Hint: If you see a nurse/aide with long hair and it's wet on the ends, it's not perspiration. Hair/scarf/necklace also gives a psychotic/delirious patient something to pull at. It's really no different than IPC telling my friend's husband he can't wear his wedding band at work. |

Schnauzer1, the way you wrote that implies that Home Depot singled out buttons with reference to God. They did not do such a thing. I don't think a person would have a job long is they want to wear a Burger King crown while at work for Mc Donalds. Home Depots policy seems to keep certain people from pushing the limits. If they allow the God button they would have to allow a KKK button. Their policy says no buttons but HD ones. This includes God, Santa, Happy Halloween, Kwanzaa, St Patrick's Day, ect. Now to this article. It clearly says, "CareNow makes exceptions for people who want religious accommodations all the time and that Zaki is welcome to apply for a position with the company." If she is hired, apply for this exception. These are two very different cases and can't be compared. I have not read in any religious text where it says Christians should wear a button. Where did Schnauzer1 mention Home Depot? |

She could not wear it in France at all, and technically not in Turkey, either. In Mexico no one is permitted to wear clerical clothing on the street.
It seems rather innocuous to us. Why doesn't she wear one of those shower cap thingys or do rags like they all seem to wear at Huntsville Hospital? That would cover her hair and be in line for a medical emergency, would it not? |
