OK, I did not vote for the guy and I am learning to adjust, but, how much of an ego does this man have? I am sick of seeing his "Office of Pres Elect" banners and signs. There is no such thing and he is not in office until Jan 20. Period. How much money is he wasting on this ego trip????
Obama Invents 'Office of the President-Elect' Monday, November 10, 2008 12:54 PM By: Jim Meyers Article Font Size Barack Obama has created a stir by proclaiming that he heads “The Office of President-Elect” — an office that does not officially exist. At his first news conference on Nov. 7, Obama stood at a podium bearing a sign that read: “Office of the President-Elect. Also, his Web site, Change.gov, bears the words “Office of the President-Elect” at the top of its home page. Writer Larry Anderson referred to the “made-up little title” on the American Thinker Web site, and declared: “I nearly busted a gut ... “Once again, [Obama] can’t wait to invest himself with the trappings of office.” Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin wondered: “What other make-believe offices are they going to invent between now and Inauguration Day? I can’t ever recall in my lifetime any mention of such an office.” Technically speaking, Obama may not even be the President-elect, according to the American Sentinel Web site. “Megalomaniac Obama’s ego grows even more insufferable,” a weekend posting reads. “Yes, he will be [president-elect]. But he’s not officially yet, until the Electoral College votes. “The Constitution provides that on the Monday after the second Wednesday in December, electors convene in their respective state capitals. It’s then that they formally elect the President of the United States, based on the general election results.” LOVE MY CATS =^-^= You could home school me mom, it's not just for scary religious people any more...Buffy |

This whole thing sounds like a lot of ado about not so very much substance. While no Obama fan myself, it would seem reasonable to do something like that to assure people, especially in times like this, that Obama is really trying to get up on things that are going on so he can hit the ground running. So far, with the exception of his selection of Rahm Emmanuel and Hillary Clinton; and his emphasis on global warming, he really hasn't done much of anything I can really object to.

I made a sign for myself that reads "God-Emperor of the Known and Unknown Universes".

He needs to keep the hype going because once the rubber meets the road, his adoring fans will see the flat tires and the honeymoon will be over.
I am just amazed at his ego. Maybe we have hope in the fact that he must know he knows nothing and is therefore surrounding himself with past pros of politics. Its not really change, just a rerun of the Clinton era. Yes, we can; Yes, we did, but what now??? "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass . . . . its about learning to dance in the rain." |

I hope it is! It will be great if he can undo eight years of George Bush taking us down the drain. "A mind is like a book, you have to open it before you expect to gain any intelligence." "Great ideas often receive violent opposition from mediocre minds." - Albert Einstein |

He invented the office name to try and build up some confidence in this country. George W. is simply sitting back hoping the economic crisis will all go away like a bad dream. Obama is simply trying to fill the void in world confidence, especially the void between Bush's two ears.

The economic system? Sure. But as far as our country goes, I have not lost confidence in it. It is the greatest place to live. And Bush didn't take us down the drain. Obama is not going to "resurrect" us - no one person can. Its called checks and balances - meaning "spread the blame". We'll have to see how The Chosen One does for ourselves...no speculation, no smoke and mirrors...just results for us to see.
I truly hope for the country's sake that he can do something. Meanwhile, it may just be four years of Obama leading the circle around the bowl. Ask me again in four years. Maybe we'll have invented "Obama Derangement Syndrome" by that time. Of course, criticism of The Chosen One may just be viewed as treason by his acolytes...we'll see glassy-eyed zombie types shuffling toward us chanting, "O-Ba-Ma! O-Ba-Ma!"
