And if the mention of Obama doesn't make you sick to your stomach worrying about your debts and your children's future debts waiting for health care and green cars and higher food bills, then you must be a brain dead lib.

On the Palin issue, I have a serious question for Republicans. Let’s pretend we can go back in time, before the ’08 Republican primaries, and allow you to pick two candidates. Let’s also assume you already know Obama has secured the Democratic nomination. The first candidate is the person most likely, in your opinion, to defeat Obama – who would you pick? The second candidate is the one whose ideals most closely resemble your own – who would you pick? If the answer to either question is Sarah Palin – salute! Vote your conscience, and continue supporting her as long as she remains a political figure. If she is not the answer to either of those questions, why do you care? Why aren’t you more focused on a candidate that can either win, or a candidate whom you most strongly identify with?

maybe the real question is if she is so harmless why do you brain dead liberals hate her so?

If she is not a threat, leaver her alone.

I fear Obama's agenda, therefore I am very outspoken about them, if he was more moderate and in the center I would not even be on this forum.

Person to defeat Obama? There was not one. He had completely hypnotized the masses and had the 720 million to do it.
The best pick was Mitt Romney for his business experience, his economics, and his knowledge of how to do a health care system. Sarah was, and is, inexperienced but she has more executive experience than Obama. She has run Alaska well and the people know it. She is a 1000 times better than Gaffing Joe and she could learn on the job as Obama is supposed to be doing.
I don't mind a VP learning as he or she goes, the Pres should not be.
Mike Huckabee was my second choice.

Chow and LMM,

If you’re able, please drop your initial instinct to defend Palin, and to attack the left. I think my question has some merit. If you give an honest answer, I will do my best to explain why I think Palin was a political disaster. AND, I sincerely mean this: I have no agenda against her, nor do I “hate” her. I honestly believe the McCain Campaign made a huge mistake in picking her as a running mate, and will happily, and respectfully, defend my position.

I like her. I would vote for her. She is conservative. I am conservative. Her Alaskan accent and speech pattern don't bother me. She has more executive experience than Obama. And after the last 6 months, it's obvious no one could possibly have less experience and run the country in the ground any worse than Obama.

Therefore I will support her, until I see a better conservative who has the guts to stand for conservative values and doesn't care what the MSM says.

The fact that she is not your usual run of the mill politician makes her even more interesting.

Go right ahead. I gave an honest answer. Like GOM, I like her. She was fresh and new and likable. Obama picked Biden who was the WORST choice in my opinion. He's an idiot and can't keep his mouth shut. I doubt Obama wanted him, I'm sure the party may him take him. McCain could have picked someone with more experience, but he took a long shot. It did not work. That's the way politics are. To vilify the lady, after all this time, is ridiculous.

As for attacking the left, I'm am stating the fact that Obama had no experience, still doesn't and is running the country into the ground. If you see that as attacking, then I am guilty.

I'm right there with you LMM.

Palin was made too look much worse than she was, CBS and Katie Couric purposely butchered her interview.

And if you think Obama is experienced, well that was already covered by GOM.

To answer your question I liked her well before she was in the spotlight. I know one Republican possibility backed away from running this time because of the national resentment for the Republican Party. There was almost 0% of winning, Sarah Palin was the wild card.

She is a real person not a politician, much like our founding fathers. She is about principles and that is lacking in politics today. Every politician is owned by someone or some movement, she was not.

Obama came out of nowhere, but has been groomed for some time now, why do you think he opened the Democratic Convention in 04?

Chow, LMM, & GOM,

All of your answers referenced Obama. I don’t like him either, so let’s get past that. Can we go back to my “2 candidates” question? I want to discuss Palin, and the future of the GOP.

bamac-

You won't be able to say that after 2010 elections.

dole-

There's no getting past Obama, but what else do you want? I gave you an honest answer and I guess that wasn't good enough for you.

The GOP has a LONG way to go before the 2010 elections or the 2012 elections. They have to organize themselves yet they keep coming apart at the seams. Palin is simply the latest example. As time passes since her abandonment of Alaska and I study the events I seriously doubt she will run for president. Mitt Romney is the more likely choice right now. But nobody is paying attention to him. Maybe that is good. He'll be back in the spotlight by 2010 to start his campaign.

It's not quite as simple as that. You would actually have to have someone who could challenge a complete govermental-media network. The media has already admitted they favored Obama heavily. The media would have attacked Jesus Christ if He would have challenged Obama in ths election. If they couldn't find anything, they would have made it up, a la Dan Rather. The election was already decided, as far as those who choose to shape public opinion goes, when Obama was nominated.

This is typical of socialist countries...the media is in fact controlled by the government. It may be at least controlled de facto by the government now, as the recent totally slanted coverage on national health care shows. Perhaps the media should consolidate and change their name to TRUTH (English for "Pravda").
