I think it is great that the building will be revitalized. I hate to watch our older buildings sit and crumble into waste. But I do hope the exterior isn't changed, it's a beautiful building and I myself have missed seeing it used.
(1) The city offered $60,000 and the United States Postal Service turned it down. I know the USPS is supposed to be independent but I think local government should be given a chance on such a building at a low price.
(2) Harvey Robbins is selling it to the city for $129,000 which includes what he payed for it plus what he put into it. Now I would imagine he didn't pay much more than what the city offered so I look strangely at the USPS who probably gets a little help from the city. I also look strangely at Harvey Robbins, who people say has given at lot to Tuscumbia. Don't kid yourself. He is making money.
It sure would have been nice if our Congressmen and Senators could have had a little influence on the original offer. Maybe I am looking at the whole thing wrong, but I personally know cities where private corporations have given entire buildings for such purposes.

I'm still ticked off at the fact our post office has been moved to hwy 72. If the old building is now considered safe enough for city office use why the heck was it closed?? It's vvery inconvenient for everyone in town.
