I tried this at a large gathering and couldn't find out the cook to beg the recipe.
With the holidays up coming this would be great. The cake is alot like a spice cake with raisins and nuts maybe even applesauce, with caramel icing. I have checked all my cookbooks but no luck. Euie gooie goodie. It's Five O'Clock Somewhere.... |

Making caramel frosting can be a science in itself. It can become extremely hard in a very short time and almost impossible to spread. I find cooking caramel frosting difficult in getting just the right cooking time & consistency. Here’s one that I use on my Fresh Apple Cake recipe that doesn’t require cooking.
Caramel Frosting: 1/2 cup butter (4 oz.) 1 cup brown sugar 3-5 tablespoons milk 1 box confectioners' sugar (1 pd, about 4 cups) Melt butter, add sugar, mix until well blended and sugar is dissolved. Add 3 tablespoons milk and 1 box of confectioners' sugar. Beat and add just enough milk to spread. |
