If they say charge $2.00 per vehicle to park, at McFarland Park on the 4th of July so that we could have better entertainment, would you be for it. To me I think it is a very good ideal if it will get some good entertainers to come. So your opinions and which singers would you like to see come.

they couldn't pay ME to get in the middle of that crowd and traffic mess...i'll just watch the fireworks from a nearby residence, and bypass the other stuff...
If the traffic problems is a problem, that could be solve some, if there was a road built by Cypress Creek leading into the park from Hwy. 20, to offset some of the traffic, it could help a lot, just a thought.

After working that Hot, Miserable Event for over 7 years with EMA and Search and Rescue, I can tell you this much. It would be great to charge per car. But the problem I see, and I know would happen, is there would be a Major amount of people that would park their car away from the people trying to watch for cars parking and those people would attempt to get in "free". There is always someone who wants to Buck the System, and that's the problem that I see right off the bat, and I know that this would happen, I'd bet my life on it. Good idea though Blues

If parking is such a problem, why don't they move it to somewhere else, say the Music Hall of Fame? I know it's a nice setting there by the river and all, but it's really not too conducive to holding a large public event.
After all the complaints here about parking, I must say, parking at this event is nothing compared to other large events. I parked in McFarland last year, hung out with the toothless people for a while and when the event was over, headed back to the car with 10,000 other people.
I was home 20 minutes after I got in the car in spite of the traffic.
Parking is not the issue. I just wish they had some sort of "VIP" area for those who want to pay for a family-friendly, redneck-free area.

We are willing to pay a considerable amount for a good 4th of July event...of course the event we attend is free and in St. Louis. Family friendly, great entertainment, and lots to do in the festival atmosphere under the arch.
This area really needs to capitalize on its music history. The "big" push seems to be attract tourism with a vacation destination mindset. Sorry, but the year before we moved here we went to the 4th show. Not something we will be doing again. Just not a great atmosphere for our kids.
