Friday and Saturday nights are the Watermelon Festival in Russellville. Three bands tonight, among them Kerry Gilbert and Shenandoah. Another lineup tomorrow with simultaneous entertainment inside at the Roxy. Even free watermelon--can't beat that!

If anyone is going tonight and sees a young blond man who is a quadriplegic, please stop and speak to him. It will really mean a lot to him and to me also.

The schedule is listed in a blue column to the left of this site.

I think you can go all day Saturday, but the street entertainment starts about 6:30 p.m.

I heard that what was formerly known as the wallermelon fest was renamed the chicken chokin/taco eating fest this year.

Kerry Gilbert always put on a fantastic show. I think he usually plays at Jonathan's in Russellville every Friday night. It's a great family restaurant - no smoking, no booze.

there are people everywhere down here. It is packed. Tammi it's good entertainment exspecially for kids(mostly during the day for kids)

Firenze, that's why I love you because you are always thinking about your patients. That shows how good of a person you really are. Thanks for being a great caregiver and person. My grandmother has recently been diagnosed with brain tumors and I hope and pray that maybe one day you will be her nurse or at least someone that has a kind heart the way you do. God Bless You.

The Kerry Gilbert Band no longer plays at Jonathans on Fridays. They now do a show at The Roxy on the second Saturday of the month. They are also playing other dates. They were good tonight, I have to say that I enjoy them more and more each time.

I am shocked that they do not have a Hispanic Festival there in Russellville, they were all over the place.

I must say I was impressed with the festival this year - there were a lot of craft vendors compared to last year.

I'd really like to see entertainment throughout the day and not just at night, though.

The crafters were terrible...I did not find one single item worth buying except the food. Most of the ones they had were selling flea market items not crafts

If the town was smart, they would capitalize on the hispanic culture. Especially during Cinco de Mayo.

But the majority would rather keep it a retirement community. That's fine. It's really tense there now. I didn't go to the fest this year.

I went to a Tomato Fest instead... Smiler

I had a freind who went. There's an antique store on main street that's open only 2 days a year during the festival. He said it was worth is just to go in there and look.
