It's just been reported that a staff member of CBS' show "48 Hours" was the blackmailer. No names published yet. Very interesting.

"The network said the person who was arrested works on the true-crime show "48 Hours" and has been suspended. A person with knowledge of the investigation said the suspect is Robert J. Halderman. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because authorities have not released the suspect's name.

A "48 Hours" producer named Joe Halderman was part of a team nominated for an Emmy for outstanding continuing coverage of a news story in a news magazine in 2008. Two numbers listed for Halderman were disconnected, and a message left at a third number was not immediately returned Thursday."

Letterman has again lowered himself to a new level, and what is funny is that he thinks Palin is stupid.

Why not? It was apparently consentual, he wasn't married, so what better way to stick it to the blackmailer than to admit it all on national television? Really, a single unattached rich powerful man surrounded by a bevy of beauties?

He's been with that woman for over 20 years, has a child with her. He FINALLY condescended to marry her.

He's not funny, he's not nice, he's a hypocrite.

On and off for twenty years is what I've heard. How do we know whether they've been together and in a monogomous relationship for the whole straight 20 years or not? He is a very private person who doesn't talk about his private life. Maybe she had other relationships. Maybe they had an open relationship. Maybe, as Ross and Rachael would say, they were on a break. Or a few breaks. Twenty years is a long time to be seeing someone and not be married. Who knows what all transpired in those twenty years?

This WILL cost CBS and/or his company, Worldwide Pants, millions of dollars. All it will take is for just one of the ladies to state that they felt they had to have sex with him or their job would be in jeopardy. Whether a settlement in or out of court, big bucks are in store for them. If they all say that, we may be talking billions.

The moral aspect is between him, his wife and his God.

Yeah, he still has moments of being funny but he needs to say good-bye. Too agenda driven.

I thought Letterman was pretty funny back in the 80's but now it just seems a little too structured to be really funny. I dunno.

Sorry, he married his son's mother last year. Even so, where can you have relations with people that work for you and not get into some kind of trouble? He went to Ball State with my best friend. He was a dog then and it seems nothing has changed. I was a fan, he started here in Indiana, but like so many he forgot his roots when he made it big.

There is the fact that he is a boss. In most places a boss approaching a worker is not accepted. It is not accepted for obvious reasons. An employee should not have this decision to make. The guy who black mailed him thought he could get by with it, he was shown in the back of a squad car lastnight. Even if he was not married to Harry's mom at the time, I understand that he had been seeing her for twenty years, this is still embarrassing for her.
