According to Editor Scott Morris, there are no official mods anymore. Appearently, if a post is reported, a staff member (didn't get a concrete answer here as to who that might be) will check out the complaint and do what has to be done, if anything.

So it could possibly be days before they even know if there is a complaint?

Days or weeks, and then nothing may happen.

LMM that is what I was thinking. I have never seen a business like a newspaper not have moderation to forums. I thought they needed it for their credibility, sponsors and community trust. I guess I was wrong.

Not to mention their liability when the lawsuits start flying.

Maybe that's just it. It's like saying beware of dog. If there are mods, they would be responsible to keep track. No mods, no responsibility.

If the editor is unwilling to moderate the forum and take responsibility for it, he should shut it down.

I'm thinking neither side does, or they would shut up and let the attorneys handle it. Instead, we are subjected to high-school level drama.

As for defamation, there has to be some real (measurable - usually financial) harm. Hurt feelings and bad thoughts don't count.

Hhomesick Girl - that's exactly what I told them in one of my many post reportings yesterday. Moderate it or shut it down completely.

If they are not going to moderate I agree it needs to be shut down. I hope they do it before I get to know people though.

I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the forums are no more, it's just a shame for the many people who can get on here and behave, to lose their forum because of a few selfish people who desperately need to get a life or do something positive and productive with the one they already have.
