Fire -- I get the point you are making but I"m not understanding why. Is it that she didn't capitalize the name? I know that Sheet Rock is a brand name, but to my knowledge when I've gone to Lowes and asked for Drywall -- I was still sold Sheet Rock. There are not that many "brands" of the material out there unless you are truly price shopping etc from my experience. Drywall is Drywall. When we had a water damage -- the insurance estimate paid to replace "drywall" in the estimate -- but "sheet rock" is what we installed. I guess I'm not getting the big deal. Sorry. If your point is it's another TD article flub -- that point I get whole-heartedly...

Geez, let it go. It is true that "Sheetrock" (one word, not two) is a trademarked brand. Although, it has been widely accepted as a generic substitue for drywall for many years. Even to the extent that most people don't even realize that the correct material name is drywall and not sheetrock. If you ask for sheetrock, at any building supply store, you will be directed to the drywall that they have in stock, so be prepared. If you want Sheetrock Brand drywall, ask for Sheetrock Brand drywall. That should eleviate any dispair you might encounter.

Yes, basically, it's just something she should know, especially if she expects to get a better job. If they were installing Sheetrock, it should have been capitalized. As I said, the Rollerblade Company will actually have their attorneys send you letters if you use their brand name instead of inline skates. That, and it is stealing. I once worked at a company where the warehouse mgr. took several Poulon string trimmers in stock as Weed Eaters. When a new company took over, there were not enough Weed Eaters in stock; the poor mgr. thought he was going to have their value docked from his check.

I guess I just pick different battles to get upset about these days...I don't think most of us would give this or the Weed Eaters a 2nd thought much less worry about someone docking our pay for it. Until they send me a letter from the attorney I won't lose any sleep over it if I were here. Sheetrock or drywall -- it's the stuff that makes my wall nice and smooth if you do a good job hanging and finishing it. I really don't care what kind you use so long as I get a good smooth finish to paint...
