New Kid on the Block
Posted
My face is a mess. For a couple of years now, my facial acne come and go. Most of the time, they’re there and I can’t stand to look in the mirror. My face is very red and there’s lumps all over. I’m lost because I keep my face clean enough. Any help in getting rid of them?

Somehow I think this is going to end up being some sort of advertisement but assuming it's a legitimate concern of someone who just posted for the first time I would suggest talking to a dermatologist. They have some pretty good drugs now from what I understand.

I can tell you from when I was a kid I irritated the heck out of my face trying everything to get rid of them and it just made it worse.

Keeping your face clean is not enough to get rid of acne. After cleaning your face, apply an anti-acne gel like cleocin-t gel. Helped me get the redness and the lumps to a manageable level. It’s also pretty much available in any local or online pharmacy out there. Ask your dermatologist about it. Good luck.

There are 2 products I've used over the past several years that help with adult acne, but they are not cheap. I tried over the counter stuff and it didn't work for me. To each his own though...

The 1st product is Proactiv. It works well, but you have to use it -- you can't use it once a week and expect results. It is not the miracle the TV ads tout, but it does work.

The 2nd product is Obagi. I get it from the lady at Greenhill Clinic. It is expensive. The whole system (cleanser, toner, blender, tretinoin cream, etc -- there's like 7 or 8 products to the system) is $3-400. The system will last for 4-5 months with daily use -- only having to replace the cleanser and toner more often than that. It is worth the investment. You do the steps in the morning and then you do the steps in the evening and it helps with acne and aging.

I've also used antibiotics from the dermatologist, but I don't like taking pills so the other regimens worked better for me.

Drink lots of water. Avoid caffiene. Avoid stress. Figure out what triggers your acne (certain foods can exacerbate it) etc...

Have you ever tried taking a bath regularly?
