I do not have a green thumb. As a matter of fact, I think I may have a black thumb. But, anyway, I bought some tulip bulbs this past week and was wondering if any of you have any ideas, hints, tips, tricks, or advice for me as I prepare to plant them.
Shall I wait until it is super cold or plant them now? Do they like full sun or shade? Anything I should add to the soil? Eggshells, coffee grounds, etc? Thanks a bunch! It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine. |

Now is the time to plant. Plant them 4-5 inches deep and lightly pack the soil. They like full sun.

This is a good time to plant daffodils but it is actually better to wait a month or so to plant tulips. Late December is a good time to do it. In the meantime, store the tulip bulbs in your refrigerator to give them a chilling period. Just don't store them near fruits - they put off some type of gas that harms tulip bulbs.

Thanks! I picked up some pink blushing daffodils while I was out at lunch, I'll plant them this weekend.

I'm pretty sure you need to plant any bulb before the first frost.

OK, I'll plant them all this weekend and if the tulips don't come up then PR can come over and plant something else in my yard next spring!
