I know it's still August , but I am planning a Christmas open house at my new office building in early December, and I want to use lots and lots of poinsettias. I had thought I would buy silk ones so I could re-use them, but to my dismay, they are slim pickings on line. And the few I did find were overpriced and/or the wrong color. I want white ones and deep red (almost burgundy) ones. So I guess I'll have to go with live ones. Are there any good places, i.e. farms, around north Alabama where I can buy pretty fresh ones once they come in season?

I saw huge greenhouses full of them somewhere. I just can't remember where and I'm thinking it may have been on vacation last year. Maybe not. If my brain starts working I'll figure it out.

There is a law firm in Birmingham that used to send us gorgeous poinsettias every year at Christmas. Huge! We (in the Pathology Dept) would cut slides and make copies of autopsy reports and stuff for their legal cases all year, so they'd send us stuff at Christmas as a thank you. I'm sure they had a supplier somewhere. I'll see if I can get the name of the law firm from the guys in Path and you can call to see where they order them. I'll let you know.

Warning; these things were HUGE. Mine always covered the entire front of my fireplace. But they were gorgeous. The last year I worked there they sent orchids that were also huge and gorgeous. Maybe they're from the Little Shop of Horrors?

Huge is good! I could get by without having to buy as many if they are big.
