I have been hearing and seeing these strange doves around here in Sheffield for the last few years. They say "coo coo coo .....coo coo coo" to the point of driving you mad if you are outside near their nest . The are lighter in color than mourning doves and have a lot of white in their tail.I was at the rail yard yesterday and observed some up close and could see a distinct ring around their neck.Aha ring neck doves (I didn't no there was such a thing around here) I thought, sure enough googled and found them. Y'a ll seen any and how did the get here?

Look this post was for ornithological folks please don't let the comment of the previous moron scare you from answering. He doesn't even know that doves and pigeons are basically the same thing .I bet he can't tell the difference between a butterfly and a moth.
I have had a couple at my feeder. I assumed they were from the guy down the road who raises homing pigeons. My husband calls them ring necked pigeons but if you look them up on the web they don't look like what is pictured there. Sorry I can't be more help but I have seen a bird similar to what you are describing.
